Toyota Tundra

okay.. future we'd like to tow a 5th wheel camper, was looking at F250 and F350 (3/4 and 1 ton trucks) but when looking at specs..

Toyota Tundra has over a 2000 pound cargo capacity, and even the F150 has over 3000 pound cargo capacity.

That sounds like a one ton truck to me..

The only advise I get online about the tundra is to add Airlift bags to the back prior to putting in a 5th wheel hitch and towing.

Opinions?

You looking at gas models? Check diesels. More expensive outlay, but much larger tow capacities for the same vehicle over gas.

Those are the Fords inwas looking at, but we want the truck to be our daily driver as well.. Tundra is comfy and the interiors are beautiful..

Otherwise we'd be looking at a very old Diesel Schlepp truck that would stay parked unless we were towing.

I THINK Toyota maybe coming out with a diesel Tundra but not sure.

I chose a GMC Sierra (gas) over Ford for comfort, fit/trim, features, daily driving and, at the time, higher advertised load/tow capacities over the F-150. Also had a better Consumer long-term rating. Silverado is the same thing, a bit cheaper, not as many creature comforts. It was available in a diesel as well, same options.

My owner's book has all the tow/load options for every version of the truck, if you're interested.

itsbob, there are a few things that need to be considered in your 2000/3000 lb. payload calculation. Here are some of the ones I remember, fuel for the tow vehicle, the weight of each person in the tow vehicle, any supplies/tools that are in the tow vehicle, the weight of the 5th wheel hitch (around 150/200 lbs.). The pin weight of the 5th wheel needs to roll into that payload calculation also that alone can be anywhere from 2000 to 3500 Lbs. or more.
