I prefer my trackball to ANY mouse on the market, but the one I have is wearing out.

Anyone have the Microsoft Explorer Trackball they no longer need, or have tried and don't like??

I'd be willing to pay upwards of $1.75 in CASH...

Have used a trackball at work for 7 years or more, love it, but not at home, for whatever reason. And no, you cant have it:)

HAS to be the Microsoft Trackball.. It's all I've used since probably 2003(?)... and now mine's starting to die.. I need at LEAST two more, if not three so I can have one waiting for me in all the offices I use.

People that have only used a mouse in the past just don't get it.. I DESPISE using a mouse, and dealing with the surface you're trying to use it on..

If the surface is one of your big issues, you might try one of the newer all surface mice. Damn things will track straight and true even on a couch cushion. Leg of your pants, whatever. Crazy. Around the house that what I use, and on the road.

eBay

Edit: just saw that you only want to pay $1.75.

Hoping (I know it would be a miracle) that someone tried one and threw it in a drawer somewhere because they didn't like it..

Hell, I'd pay $50 a piece for two or three of them.

I may have to tear this one apart and fix the sticky parts, and see if I can get a couple more years out of it.

Sure you wont jump over to the Logitech?

Amazon.com: Logitech Trackman Marble Mouse: Electronics

Have had mine like this for at least eight years now, love it.

I used to have one similar to this a long time ago:
Amazon.com: Logitech M570 Wireless Trackball: Electronics

Although one thing that I notice is that mine had a way to remove the ball so that you could clean crud off of the roller bearings. It doesn't look like this one has that unless the ball just has some spring retention system and you just pop the ball out.

A wireless mouse won't keep you tethered to your 'puter.

Yep, little tiny rollers, like ballpoint pen size, ball pops right out, 10 seconds with a q-tip wipes away the crud.

Just like those who've only used a trackpad-equipped laptop have no concept of the unearthly ergonomic wonder that was Apple's trackball Powerbook 160-165-180 series laptops.

Reminded me of an ancient joke, pre-Internet era:

Re: Replacement of mouse balls

If a mouse fails to operate or should it perform erratically, it may need a ball replacement.

Mouse balls are now available as FRU (Field Replacement Units). Because of the delicate nature of this procedure, replacement of mouse balls should only be attempted by properly trained personnel.

Before proceeding, determine the type of mouse balls by examining the underside of the mouse. Domestic balls will be larger and harder than foreign balls. Ball removal procedures differ depending upon the manufacturer of the mouse. Foreign balls can be replaced using the pop off method.

Domestic balls are replaced by using the twist off method.. Mouse balls are not usually static sensitive. However, excessive handling can result in sudden discharge.

Upon completion of ball replacement, the mouse may be used immediately. It is recommended that each person have a pair of spare balls for maintaining optimum customer satisfaction.

Any customer missing his balls should contact the local personnel in charge of removing and replacing these necessary items.

Please keep in mind that a customer without properly working balls is an unhappy customer.
