Budds Creek Road Area

Budds Creek Road is a very long road.

Where along the road was it?

I usually drive that way to get home. I'm trying to plan a detour.

And Thanks for the info!

Budds Creek Rd and Sunnyside is in the Clements area very close to the Bowles Farm, maybe 4 miles from Point Lookout Rd and Budds Creek coming into Leonardtown.

Wife came through Pincusion Rd about 5:15 and there was a state trooper sitting there and there was a big burnt spot in the road....That is the crossroads at Pincusion and Sunny Side Rds....Not far in off 234....

The accident was on Sunnyside Road...close to the Coltons Point Road end. Very bad accident according to my brother who was on the scene.

All we know right now is one young man is passed away, and 2 young men were flown out. We dont know their status. We ask that you keep their friends and families in your prayers.

Which high school did they attend?

They did attend Chopticon and were a very tight-knit group of kids. They were very involved in the theatre and did so much together. I just heard that two boys were pulled from the car and the third was pinned in. No one could reach him and the car caught on fire. God be with his mother and his two brothers.

Law Allowing Children the to Right to Drive Claims Another Life

Could have been an 80YO that has been driving for 60 some years ..

Where did this smelly brown thing come from? Sounds more like speed and inattention claims another life.
Exactly my first thought when I read the headline. There is nothing wrong with a 17 year old being behind the wheel at 4 pm. This accident was attributed to negligent driving... not age. How sad.

I think the headline stinks...BUT 17 year olds are fairly negligent drivers as a whole. Maybe not this child but most of them are. I'm not sure what the solution is. I don't think they learn much in the way of real-life driving skills in driver's ed. The roads in Southern Maryland are very crowed and there's a huge variation of speeds on one road. Unfortunately, kids don't give much thought to safety and we, as adults with much driving experience, know that just a quick turn of the head to change a radio station, answer a cellphone, whatver...can have disastrous consequences.

My heart breaks for the loved ones involved.

I completely agree with you. In fact I just got off the phone with my mom. I had called her and asked her if it was feasible to put my son and his friends in a bubble for the next 5 years, until their brain development returned back to normal... It scares me that they will be 16 next year...:frown:
