Need a follow up on the story....
Yesterday was a bit busy (too busy for me)
Had a lock down at school when a car thief ditched a car across the road and took off on foot: K-9 nabbed him.
We come home from that hype just to have a shooting less than 1/2 mile from my home.
Yeah...I've had about enough.

So...anybody know some more facts on the story?

Not sure if it's true..heard the suspect died and he may not have even been out of the car when shot.
Deputy Shot Man During Traffic Stop

At approximately 7 p.m. last night, January 10, a 25 year old man from Calvert County was shot by a Calvert County Sheriff’s Office Deputy during a traffic stop.

“The suspect was shot one time during the traffic stop on Rt. 4 just south of the intersection with H.G. Truman Road in St. Leonard,” Lt. Col Tom Hejl told The Bay Net.

The man was flown from the scene to PG Trauma Unit, and is not suffering from life-threatening injuries, according to Hejl.

Hejl could not say why the traffic stop was conducted; only that it was a traffic related offense that caused the officer to stop the 25 year old driver.

Hejl also could not say whether the officer had been shot at during the exchange or the exact number of shots that were fired. The driver, who Hejl refered to as the “suspect,” was shot once.

The name of the officer involved in the shooting and the name of the 25 year old county man who was shot are not being released. “There names are not being released because the investigation is being conducted and we are waiting for charging documents and review by the State’s Attorney,” Hejl explained.

I talked w/ some EMS friends and they say he died. Wonder who has the right story. I wouldn't place money on our local media.

That's the story we heard. Probably CYA right now until they can find out why the deputy shot the guy.

Didja notice that the NBC4.com story said the victim was taken to Baltimore while the Baynet story said the victim was taken to PG?
When my nephew was in that serious accident a while ago... they first told us they were flying him to PG because that is the standard for our area... at the last minute they flew him to Baltimore. There was confusion as to where he actually was for us for a few hours.

Being a former EMT, When the Helo goes enroute to the hospital usually PG (from down here) They consult with whatever hostpital they are going to. If that hospital is on Fly-BY (not accepting pt. because they are busy) they will tell them to devert to another trauma ER.

Just for the record, regardless of the suspects past.... he was pulled over on a traffic citation, he was not out of the car and was shot while sitting facing North on rt 4 in his car. So... questions arise are this.. If the suspect did not want to get out of the car, why not call for backup or in the least use the asp break the window and let loose the K9 until backup arrived. No knife or gun was found on the suspect, keep in mind if there was it would have been released in the news hense why he would have been shot. So at which time while standing behind and near his Scout car was his life in jeopardy enough to discharge his weapon through the back of the suspect car to hit him just under the right arm through his back? Just food for thought..
What?

This has probably already been posted but a co-worker called and told me that they are giving Rt 260 and Rt 2 as alternative. It's backed up from Dunkirk on both sides. There are fatalities and phone lines are down in that area. Very sad...
