Sec. 20-103: Driver to remain at scene – Accidents resulting only in damage to attended vehicle or property

The driver of each vehicle involved in an accident that results only in damage to an attended vehicle or other attended property immediately shall stop the vehicle as close as possible to the scene of an accident, without obstructing traffic more than necessary.

The driver of each vehicle involved in an accident that results only in damage to an attended vehicle or other attended property shall return to and remain at the scene of the accident until he has provided the necessary information to another driver or to law enforcement.

The penalty for failing to stop after a property destruction collision or failure to return to and remain on the scene of a property destruction collision is a court appearance and eight points assessed on a driver’s license.

A person convicted on a violation of this section is subject to imprisonment not exceeding two months or a fine not exceeding $500 or both.
