Thats a lot of mile on there and I wouldn't put in a shift kit without a fresh rebuild. When i put a v8 in my old 98-s10, i used a 700r4 and put in a shift kit. It made the shifts real firm and the trans felt real solid, but then again this was on a fresh rebuild but it did blow up at the track when the torque convertor let go, but i just rebuild it again and it was fine. Also, you need a aftermarket trans cooler because it produces a lot more heat.

:yeahthat:
Buddy of mine killed at least 2 trannies in his old Sierra and I contribute a good bit of that to the shift kit. Better make sure its solid before throwing that on there.

Thanks guys. I knew it would generate more heat, but the tranny seems very solid still, but that could change tomorrow....

Generally, a WELL designed shift kit improves transmission life. Shift kits reduce the amount of time the clutch packs slip against each other, which REDUCES heat generated by them. Doesn't do anything for the heat generated by higher stall torque converters or more aggressive driving though.

Who's kit were you thinking of using? Some are better than others for SURE. Check out the f-body forums, they have some decent 700R4 build/upgrade iinfo.

Send pics when you frag it. Think you will be okay though. You gonna use B&M trans fluid too?

Flo....think I'll pass for now......brake job is more important with towing a loaded trailer.....:buddies:

"Tranny" in your forum thread title did NOT make me think of a car.

I was thinking more along the lines of male/female confusion. :roflmao:
