I'm reminded of the neighborhood gatherings when I live outside of Fredneck where the guys would all hang out and talk about golf and the women would huddle and talk about their kids. It was always like they were trying to outdo each other with how ill or disabled or dysfunctional their kid was. This one is dyslexic; oh yeah? well this one is dyslexic AND has ADHD; that's nothing, this one is dyslexic, has ADHD, AND is allergic to everything; AND has asthma and is on the autism spectrum and blah blah blah. On and on it went. I felt left out because I seemed to be the only mom in the 'hood whose kids were perfectly healthy.
So I've seen these Munchausen Mommies in action, up close and personal. Trans wasn't a thing back then but if it was no doubt every family (except mine) would have at least one. It's like Paris Hilton making tiny purse dogs popular.
