Gov. Gavin Newsom signed a bill that prevents schools from notifying parents about a student's gender identity.

OK. If the school is gonna be responsible for them, medically, let the school have them And feed them.

I suppose there will always be some mentally ill person who wants to be another gender, but I will be glad when this fad runs it's course.
IMO a Doctor who would perform this operation on a child is no more than a highly educated butcher.
If these kids were left in ignorance that such things even exist we would be much better off. Back in the 50's we didn
t have a problem with this . We had a couple of kids who may or may not have been queer, but transgender was unheard of.
They get this BS either from parents or peers, and all of a sudden they start thinking, hey! is that me?
Next thing you know their mind has slipped a cog.

Well, there is SCOTUS precedent for declaring this law unconstitutional.
this Court declared in Washington v. Glucksberg, 521 U.S. 702 (1997), that the Constitution, and specifically the Due Process Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment, protects the fundamental right of parents to direct the care, upbringing, and education of their children.

I believe we already have similar laws in Maryland. If memory serves me correctly, I think kids can get trans surgery in Maryland without parental consent.
My understanding is that it is a school policy about the notification of parents, not a law. SCOTUS (specifically Roberts) refused to take up the case, likely agreeing with the lower court and appellate rulings which said since the three anonymous parents didn't have standing they couldn't seek judicial action.

Because schools do such a great job of protecting, nourishing and teaching students, we should now entrust them completely with everything else.
