i need help. i'm planning on making some short trips in the upcoming months with the piglet, and a longish trip over the summer. now that she's finally sleeping in a crib I don't know what to do with her at night when we travel. one set of grandparents has a crin but the other doesn't, and we can't take a crib with us on long trips.

any advice? I know that there are "portable" cribs on the market but are they worth the money? if we don't get one of those, what are our other options?

Pack and plays are nice to have when you travel. They also are handy to have when you are going somewhere, say to a bbq, and the little one has a safe place to play.

Porta cribs are wonderful:yay: Ours traveled with us on all long trips.

I used to travel with mine when she was younger and I took one of the foldable playpens. It was great, didnt take much room in the car and worth the money (which wasnt much). She was able to sleep, play and it was easy to tote.

I had a neat contraption when my daughter was born. It was a diaper bag that folded out into a bassinet, almost like how you set up a cardboard gift box. Folded, it was maybe 16"x16", 8" deep, and had a shoulder strap.

It was really cool and I'm always looking for them as a gift for new Mamacitas, but haven't seen one since I gave mine away.

we have a pack and paly but it takes up so much room in the trunk! do the portable cribs fold up any smaller than a pack and play?

But wait, there's more...
I'd go with the pack & play and get it now so the baby has time to get used to it. Then, when you travel, it'll be a familiar surrounding and might ease his/her comfort level vs. throwing a fit and crying due to strange surroundings/bedding. And when it is time to go on a trip, wash the linens a couple days before, and let him/her snuggle with them a bit to get their "scent" on them ... again, familiarity. :yay:
