Trigger finger or thumb anyone?

I was pulling up old vinyl flooring today so I was grasping pretty hard, i threw a piece in the trash and my thumb curled all the way and it would not straighten out unless I used my left hand to straighten it. Talk about scary, I thought I popped something with only half of my kitchen floor done and I need to have the new stuff down by monday evening.

That has happened to me after hard use of my hands, I mean very intense use, pretty disconcerting.

Maybe "mallet finger"? Though I've never heard of it with the thumb...(not saying it couldn't happen, though; not a doctor, nor do I play one on TV). Just a thought (happened to my ring finger).
