Trigger finger positioning...

I'm an NRA basic pistol instructor and this is some GOOD information;

I was recently contacted by an experienced handgun instructor to help him reconstruct the events of an accidental shooting. This instructor shot himself while reholstering after doing a demonstration during a basic concealed handgun class.

Lesson is EXPERIENCED shooters ####le up, too. Next lesson, there is always a reason why we/they ####led up. Lesson three is learning why and, 4, correcting it.

This is now part of my basic instruction. Working up how to demonstrate it.

Ok, good article but at the end of the day his finger hit the trigger. That is the only way the gun will fire unless the holster is jacked up and again, the trigger gets hit. Call it what you what, hand clench, I got startled, I tripped........BUT ultimately the finger hit the trigger. Keep your finger off the trigger unless ready to fire people.

Yep, everyone in any field is susceptible to screwups. As you note, self honesty and analysis are the keys to learning from those. Same process we use in aviation.

Thanks Larry, good information. I was not aware of the unintentional clench of the trigger finger. I will use this for sure.

Great article, thanks for sharing. Really good point about the first aid kit.

So, what did you come up with? I had a couple of thoughts, but if you already have it figured out, never mind.
