Trike

Is there anyone in the area that has a Trike? I really want one, but my Hubby says I have to ride one first and be sure I like it before he'll put the money into triking the Sporty for me.

I have Lics and Ins., and will meet you anywhere in the SOMD area. I think I will really prefer it to a road bike. I've only been riding for a little over a year, so I won't have to un-learn "everything", as hubby says. Just learn it for the Trike.

Any Help will be appreciated!

Annapolis Harley has one and they let you "test drive" them if you have your license and riding gear....you might also want to try some of the other dealers around(Yamaha, Suzuki, etc) they might let you do test drives also :yay:

I'm really in Charles, but in Charlotte Hall, right on the edge of St. Mary's. And As We used to live in Annapolis, I know how close it is. Thanks!

A trike?? Why not just buy a car? A trike and a bike have nothing in common.. Nowhere near as much fun as a bike, and a nice option if you're like 80 years old or disabled..

Oh, please.....If you have a license, Pely, I have a friend that has a beautiful trike. I don't know if she'll let you ride it, but she'd certainly put you on back. She'll let me ride it......Do you have the big M on your license?

Yep I do have the Big M! Have for over a year. I'm only talking a ride around the block, to get a feel for the difference. And you know I can't drop it. I just hate to have to go all the way to Annapolis for a 10 minute ride, if I don't have to.

And to Bob, I do have some Disabilities that make me want the Trike! Not that it's any of your business. But thanks for sharing!

I'll talk with the girl next week and see if she'll let you ride it. I have disabilities, also. Mental.

One would think a Trike is easier to ride than a regular motorcycle but it isn't.

Okay, I'm not picking on you, but why do you know this? A trike is much easier to ride than a motorcycle. I know this.

I know it's different. And i'm hoping not having to worry about keeping it up will take the strain off the bad knee and bad back. Not to mention the bit of fear of falling factor left from a big spill when I was learning.

I need the security of a trike. I'm not a small thing anymore. and my balance ain't what it used to be. I know my Hubby doesn't like them, but then he's been riding for over 35 years. I don't have that much to undo. Yeah I've been behind him for most of that. But it's not the same.

thanks again BS. I appreciate you checking for me. If she won't I will totally understand. Thanks just for asking!

A couple that we know both ride and they were out in the street riding around on one another friend of theirs had bought. The steering is different and you have to break some other habits like sticking your foot down when you stop. These people didn’t recently learn how to ride, in fact, one of the girls grew up on dirt bikes, and after practicing kept them selves from going in the ditch. One of the guys made mention that going around turns was a beast.

To me, at first glance, it looks easier but after listening to the commentary between them all, watching them, it didn't appear to be.

That's what I mean when I say I won't have to Un-learn a life time of habits. I know it's different. Those are the things I'm looking forward to. It's the putting your feet down that is one of the drawbacks for me. So it should be good.

Easy-peasy girl. The girl I know rode a Harley. She didn't have to un-learn and she's doing great. Still the shifting thing and all, but she doesn't worry about balancing or holding it up when she stops. A trike is easy compared to a bike.

This weekend is devoted to learning to ride my new big bike. I'll either be divorced or dead by Monday.

Her bike is easy. Nothing like a motorcycle. Steering is different, but better. Trikes are great. I wish I could afford one.

Hm, didn'tyou have an incident with a three wheeler once? How quickly we forget the lessons of life. :killingme
I was sitting at a light yesterday and a gust of wind dang near knocked me over. That would have been pretty funny to the other people at the light. Note to self, when its windy put both feet down. :lmao: Only my catlike reflexes (probably from Ninja training) saved my dignity.
All I'm saying is this would not have been a problem on a trike. There's a pretty one at St Marys Motor Sports. Honda.
