We have it, and I just used it to have my car towed up to White Plains for repairs.

I've had it since the tire blow out when I commuted to DC and the tread says that was in 2006.

Since then I've used it for tows, and peace of mind. But the perks are where it's at. Discounts on travel packages, hotels, long term secure parking at the airports, restaurants and more. For me, it pays for itself annually.

Okay, sold. For the $100 per year or whatever, it will be absolutely worth it if I find myself with a flat tire at midnight in Huntsville, AL during a thunderstorm.

Is it worth it to join or a rip-off? I make two or three long road trips per year.

do you drive clunkers that routinely require towing to gt repaired ... or do you just call Vince and Pete, to pick you up ?

I have AAA and love it ....... towed my wife into pittsburg when the Explorer broke down 6 yrs ago

I'm not worried about local driving, I'm worried about being on a roadtrip and running into trouble.

I bought it for my daughter, since she lives up near Baltimore.
To far for Dad to drive and rescue her if something happens with the car.

Check your insurance. You may have towing/emergency road service covered already. No one needs their trip planning service anymore.

I do but it's not 24-hour. If I don't have a mishap during normal business hours, I'm SOL.

I had AAA for years and years, never ever used them. Finally dropped it. I keep my vehicles in good shape, check them out before trips, can change a tire in the middle of an ice storm miles from any services (actually done it...). And my new insurance has roadside if I really need it.

EDIT: I take that back. I once used my AAA card to get a discount into an amusement park about 15 years ago...

Figured that would be a big factor in road side assistance. I have it through progressive and used it to get my truck towed when it was broken into, and when I ran out of fuel on a road trip. Called them up guy in a tow truck showed up with 5 gallons of gas, had to pay for fluids which at the time was like 3.75 a gallon, so i gave him $30. As long as I can call them (have cell service) they will send help.
