Oxon Hill, Maryland– Maryland State troopers from the Forestville Barrack apprehended a suspect involved in an early morning pursuit and hit and run collision that led to the seizure of a loaded handgun. Just before 3:00 AM on 5/10/19, a trooper from the Maryland State Police Forestville Barrack observed a gray Dodge Caravan fail to stop at a stop sign in the area of Maryland Route 210 and Livingston Road in Prince George’s County Maryland. The trooper activated his emergency equipment to affect a traffic stop. After initially slowing, the Dodge then accelerated away, attempting to flee. As the van made a left turn onto northbound Maryland Route 210, the Dodge struck a white Maserati passenger vehicle which had the right of way. The Dodge attempted to continue to flee northbound, however due to damage sustained in the collision, the van became disabled. The operator of the van exited the vehicle and attempted to flee on foot and was quickly apprehended by troopers. The operator was identified as Lamar Davon Daniels, 37, of Landover, Maryland. During a search of the area where the suspect fled and was apprehended, a loaded, Glock semi-automatic handgun was located. A check of MGUN revealed the suspect, Daniels, to be prohibited from owning a firearm. Daniels also exhibited indicators of impairment from alcohol or drugs at the time of his arrest.
The occupants of the Maserati passenger vehicle, struck by suspect while entering MD 210, were transported to Fort Washington Hospital where they were checked and immediately released.
Despite initially refusing medical treatment at the scene, Daniels began complaining of injuries sustained during the collision after arriving at the Forestville Barrack for processing. Prince George’s County EMS was requested and responded to the Barrack. Daniels was subsequently transported to a local hospital where he was treated and released while he remained in police custody. Daniels was then transported back the Forestville Barrack where he was processed before being transported to Prince George’s County Department of Corrections.
Daniels is facing multiple charges including fleeing and eluding law enforcement, failing to remain at the scene of a personal injury collision, driving while under the influence, possession of a firearm by a prohibited person with a felony conviction, and numerous other firearm and traffic related offenses.
