Upper Marlboro, Maryland– On 5/19/2019 at approximately 0538 hours, Troopers from the MSP Forestville Barrack responded to the area of Southbound US Route 301 at Rosarvyille Road, Upper Marlboro for a report of a person laying in the grass median. Upon arrival on scene, the troopers located the body of an unidentified male subject. Prince George’s County Fire/EMS responded to the scene and pronounced the male deceased.
Troopers located an occupied vehicle nearby that may have struck the victim as he was in or along the roadway. Both occupants of the vehicle are cooperating with Troopers and the investigation is continuing.
Currently the left lane (lane 1) of Southbound US Route 301 is closed in the area for the investigation. Maryland State Police CRASH Team is en route for reconstruction of the collision. Maryland Department of Transportation is on scene assisting with the lane closure.
Citizens are reminded that Maryland law requires that anytime a driver is involved in a personal injury or property damage collision, the driver is required to notify law enforcement officials. Additionally pedestrians should be sure to wear clothing or other accessories that are brightly colored or reflective for safety, especially when walking or running along roadways during hours of darkness.
