Watch off to the east off the Florida coast. There appears to be some gathering rotation at the south end of the heaviest convection. There appears to be alot of storms but no organization quite yet. Something to keep your eyes on over the next few days...
The National Hurricane Center doesn't think much of it:
TROPICAL WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS TPC/NATIONAL HURRICANE CENTER MIAMI FL
1130 AM EDT THU OCT 5 2006

FOR THE NORTH ATLANTIC...CARIBBEAN SEA AND THE GULF OF MEXICO...

A LARGE AREA OF DISORGANIZED SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS CONTINUES
ALONG A BROAD TROUGH OF LOW PRESSURE EXTENDING FROM THE EASTERN
BAHAMAS NORTHEASTWARD TO BERMUDA. WHILE A NON-TROPICAL LOW COULD
FORM WITHIN THIS AREA DURING THE NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS...UPPER-LEVEL
WINDS ARE EXPECTED TO REMAIN UNFAVORABLE FOR DEVELOPMENT OF A
TROPICAL CYCLONE.

OTHER HIGHLIGHTS FROM THE NATIONAL HURRICANE CENTER
Ernesto will become a category 3 storm and hit New Orleans
Hurricane Gordon is expected to remain a weak hurricane
Katrina will make landfall as a Category 2 storm
Wilma is going to hit as a category 2 storm and weaken considerable after landfall
Charley will make landfall as a Category 3 in Tampa
Jeanne will miss the U.S. completely

My point is that it's early... They've gotten it wrong plenty of times before. Something to keep an eye on - I wish they didn't downplay storms so quickly during an inactive season because, while I don't think this storm has a chance of becoming a strong hurricane, it only takes one bad storm to become a deadly hurricane season (i.e. Andrew, August 1992).

Crikey it's not even an orgainized low pressure system, much less a storm!

Look at the latest imagery, the few clouds associated with the trough are getting sheared to pieces.

Careful! Using that word irritates the stingrays! Next thing you know, they might call Cheney and have him turn on his Hurricane machine! That'll show you that Andy was right!

for once.
