Same as Van Helsing tread. So what are y'all expecting of it? I'm really looking forward to it.

Looks fascinating.

One thought--weren't Achilles and his "best friend" Patroclus supposed to be gay lovers? Homer's Iliad isn't clear. From my college reading, Patroclus was a very minor character, with his death being only a plot device. But later Greek playwrights like Aeschylus had these two as lovers.

I bring this up only because of Pitt's status as a sex symbol. I doubt seriously that he would agree to be in any role that was remotely gay, not at this stage in his career. But who knows--Leonard Nimoy's Spock became a sex symbol for many female Star Trek fans because he was seen as unattainable.

It's exactly as you said it was. The Iliad makes them out to be loyal friends that love each other.

Aeschylus took it a step further. Kind of like some of the tabloids did between Sam and Frodo. Assuming Achilles and Patroclus actually existed (last I heard their existence was still largely legend rather than fact), I don't think we'll ever know the answer.
