Trump complained about wounded soldier performing in public

At his welcome ceremony at Joint Base Myer–Henderson Hall, across the Potomac River from the capital, Milley gained an early, and disturbing, insight into Trump’s attitude toward soldiers. Milley had chosen a severely wounded Army captain, Luis Avila, to sing “God Bless America.” Avila, who had completed five combat tours, had lost a leg in an IED attack in Afghanistan, and had suffered two heart attacks, two strokes, and brain damage as a result of his injuries.

After Avila’s performance, Trump walked over to congratulate him, but then said to Milley, within earshot of several witnesses, “Why do you bring people like that here? No one wants to see that, the wounded.” Never let Avila appear in public again, Trump told Milley.

You put a demented old man in front of the entire world to be mocked and humiliated every day and have absolutely no problem with that because elderly abuse is perfectly okay with you.

No need to ask yourself AITA? I assure you, you are!

None of that happens. Only in your tiny mind.

Trump was mocked at the UN while just two days ago Biden was wildly cheered and accepted.

The world finally has respect for our country again with Biden in charge and Trumps antics aren't dominating the headlines.

We see it on TV every day, just not on American TV.

The UN are not US citizens, do you think they vote in our elections? Probably, did you just give away your secret? So Biden was wildly mocked jeered, and humiliated?

The world does not have a shred of respect for Biden nor Harris. What a clod you are!:roflmao:

So, did Trump say this or not? I suspect not, but he says so much stuff its hard to refute stuff like this without independents witnesses like we have for the rainout of the D-Day event.

Trump never said anything like that - it doesn't even sound like something he'd say. Not to mention Milley is a treasonous POS liar who really should live out the rest of his days in a federal prison cell.

I agree he never said it, and Milley is political scum, but Trumps comment about preferring people who were not captured don't help you make that case to other people. Makes it far easier to believe he might have said that when he's on video cutting down a mans five years spent in hell in the country's service. Another instance of self inflicted wounds that are easily avoided by not getting into personal pissing matches with people. People end up captured a lot of ways, very few of them having to do with cowardice or lack of competence. I'm not a fan of McCain the politician, but he served through conditions very few have and did that with honor. And I heard that in person from Doug Hedgdahl, a man who spent years in the camp as well.

Trump took a swing at McCain and accidentally took out POWs everywhere. It was unfortunate and he surely regrets his impulsive remark. Or maybe not - I don't know him and have no idea what he's thinking. But he's so pro-military it's hard to believe he meant that remark the way it came out.

Regardless, people misspeak and say stupid things in the heat of the moment. Joe Biden does it every time he opens his mouth and nobody seems to mind that - on camera, not just someone said he said this and that..... If a regrettable remark means a person is unelectable, then not a single person ever at all throughout history is eligible for office.

I don't really wish Trump was a slick silver tongued devil schmoozer. I'm okay with his occasional blurts because it's real and I don't feel like I'm being manipulated and patronized and shaken down. It seems like everyone is perfect...except for Trump. Everyone is allowed their moments of dumb...except for Trump. It's wrong, it's unfair, and I'm not buying into it.

I can't reconcile that with the anti-American traitor POS he "turned into". I don't think people change all that dramatically. And no scumbag gets a pass from me just because they were in the military. Anyone who served knows that there are shitty people in the military just like anywhere else, and no matter how shitty you are you can always find someone who'll say you're a standup guy.

I can only go by what McCain showed me, and I never one time saw honor.

Just helping you celebrate your all Trump all the time mental deficiency. Keep fantasizing and I'll keep waving your flag for you.

Do a deep dive on his military career and you will find he was a scumbag then too

IIRC McCain was at the bottom of his Class, and his last 4 yrs in the Navy he spent in the House as some liaison

DESPITE WHAT THE PRESS SAYS, “MAVERICK” MCCAIN HAS A LONG AND DISTINGUISHED RECORD OF HORRIBLENESS

WHAT SORT OF PERSON takes a break from taxpayer-funded cancer treatment and flies 2,000 miles to cast a vote that could result in 22 million people losing their health insurance and tens of thousands of them also losing their lives, then makes a big speech about how messed up the whole process is?

Perhaps the same sort of person who relentlessly agitated for an invasion and occupation of Iraq that caused the deaths of hundreds of thousands of Iraqis and led to millions of others being displaced from their homes?

Or maybe the same sort of person who put personal and party interests ahead of the national interest when he picked the know-nothing, far-right demagogue Sarah Palin, the ur-Trump, as his running mate in 2008?

Meet John Sidney McCain III: veteran Republican senator from Arizona and former GOP presidential candidate, who endured horrific torture and abuse at the hands of the Viet Cong between 1967 and 1973, and who was tragically diagnosed with brain cancer last week — and who has also been a loathsome human being for most of his eight decades on this planet.

McCain, whose nickname in high school was “McNasty,” has a long and well-documented history of temper tantrums and vicious bullying. The victims of his profanity-laden tirades range from his Democratic opponents and their children — “Do you know why Chelsea Clinton is so ugly? Because Janet Reno is her father,” he joked at a 1998 Republican fundraiser — to anti-war protesters (“low-life scum“) to fellow Republican Sens. Charles Grassley (“****ing jerk“) and Peter Domenici (“*******“).

He once compared the president of Iran to a monkey and still insists on calling his Vietnamese captors “gooks” (the fact that they brutally tortured him does not excuse his repeated use of a crude racial epithet). Then there is his poor wife. As journalist Cliff Schecter recounts in his 2008 book “The Real McCain”:

In his 1992 Senate bid, McCain was joined on the campaign trail by his wife, Cindy, as well as campaign aide Doug Cole and consultant Wes Gullett. At one point, Cindy playfully twirled McCain’s hair and said, “You’re getting a little thin up there.” McCain’s face reddened, and he responded, “At least I don’t plaster on the makeup like a trollop, you ****.”

IIRC Trump was talking about McCain

Yep, which speaks to my point. Trumps verbal cannon has no target discrimination and it costs him a lot. And shitbag or not, McCain strapped on a jet and flew into enemy fire and suffered literally years of torture. And not some silly waterboarding or a cold room or Nirvana at high volumes. I'm talking days tied in painful punishment positions with ropes and hourly beatings with sticks during that. A million ways to criticize McCain and Trump finds a way to do it and slander thousands of honorable men and women.

Again, and I repeat for the class. This does NOT buy McCain any leeway for the politician he became. And it doesn't matter if McCain called people names too. My only point was that some folks cant seem to understand that Trumps mouth is on the top ten list of his own worst enemies and given the list of his enemies, that's pretty freakin impressive. If you had a magic gun that did headshots on evil people 95 times out of 100 but killed an innocent schoolkid for each of those five other shots , wouldn't you maybe figure out the damn problem?

Lets face it, Trump will never change, buts lets not pretend his words are never fail magic and that he can do no wrong.
