Those of use that travel on gov per diem rates knew he was being facetious..the simple message being: "Numbers like that are OBVIOUSLY not gov per diem"
Are we sure the State dept. is not exempt from the common people rules? Would seem that Nancy and her ilk have to have some other mechanisms to afford their lifestyles.

I want to see the per-diem on that location before accepting the $546.00 a night number. Maybe demonrats can get away with that but no way the travel approvers are going to approve something like that for when they are personally liable for signing off on. I'm not saying it can't happen, but I am doubtful.

As to the bar tab, pffft...back when I was selling cars, a buddy and I went through more than a combined $1,700.00 paycheck for a 3-day weekend, mostly drinking. Friggin' lightweights.

As to the taxpayers paying for something that foreign governments are paying for: show me.

This is all easily found when searched.
Instead, Trump’s resort bills the government the maximum permitted by federal rules: 300% of the government’s per diem rate, which works out to $546 per night.
Since Mar-a-Lago wouldn’t agree to a bulk contract, the State Department had to go to Plan B. When it came to the meeting with China’s president, for example, the agency had to go into some contortions to make Mar-a-Lago’s $546 nightly room rate square with its rules on competitive bidding, given that there are other less expensive hotels nearby. At least 16 staffers stayed at the Hampton Inn in West Palm Beach; at least eight stayed at the nearby Hilton Garden Inn; and four others stayed at the Tideline Ocean Resort & Spa, where the press pool also stayed, according to a hotel manifest obtained through the FOIA lawsuit. The government-negotiated rates at those establishments ranged from $195 to $305 per night.

Here's a list of staffers who stayed at each hotel. 24 stayed at Mar-A-Lago.

The whole document cloud document outlines the struggles staffers had getting approval for these things. Including breaking protocol and applied for a taxpayer-funded Citibank credit card just for Mar-A-Lago visits. The director of presidential travel support, Michael Dobbs, said Mar-A-Lago has given him a "headache".

Did taxpayers pick up your tab?

The State Dept objected to covering the tab, so the White House paid it when it was forwarded to them.

At least nine foreign governments rented or purchased property in buildings or communities owned by Trump businesses: Kuwait, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, China, Malaysia, Slovakia, Thailand, India and the European Union.

Representatives of at least five foreign governments — Georgia, Nigeria, Malaysia, Romania and Saudi Arabia — have stayed at a Trump property.

Foreign governments have improved infrastructure in a way that benefited Trump properties in Indonesia and Panama.

At least eight foreign governments or their representatives attended parties or gatherings at Trump properties: Brazil, Dominica, Georgia, Nigeria, Russia, Turkey, Malaysia and Qatar

Lmao, what.... I literally have one of those "taxpayer-funded Citibank credit cards" in my pocket. That's not abnormal; you need that for travel.

Funny how trump pays with other people's money when the bill is from and to his resort but yet doesn't pay his own personal bills.
