Trump's STRIKE On Defeated Rivals BIDEN, HARRIS & HILLARY; 'Can't Access State SECRETS' Anymore

U.S. President Donald Trump has revoked security clearances from his previously defeated Democratic election rivals, Joe Biden, his family, Kamala Harris and Hillary Clinton, as well as a number of other top former officials. "I have determined that it is no longer in the national interest for the following individuals to access classified information," Trump's memorandum read. Watch for more details.

I'm relatively sure the Times of India is late to this party, but maybe not. Several other outlets are carrying the story; all within the last 24 hours or so. I thought he'd already done that.

Why should people who no longer hold office have security clearances?
Protection, yes - but not security clearances.
...when Trump pulled the clearances from the lying former 51 intelligence officer one of them stated -on a tv interview- we need the clearances as we are SME's and the government comes to us all the time for our opinions...

Can't get any more "Full of Yourself" than that!

Any person with a security clearance that goes to another who has lost their security clearance to seek information or advice is in violation of their own security clearance, and should lose it.

Yeah, classified info should be on a need to know, and those turds don't need to know. Once you're no longer in your official position, you're a regular citizen and should have no more rights and access than the rest of us.
Not sure how it works with people like that but I'm pretty sure they can't just walk up to whatever office and ask to know things.

I have no idea why they still have them unless it's for them to get jobs that require them. Many contractors will hire former gvt people with a SC already because they don't have to wait months or a year+ vs someone who needs to go through the investigation.

Normal people with them can't just access info because they want to, they have to be given access to it.

Please tell me some previously elected official can't just walk into the Pentagon and ask to see things, please.....

I wondered about that at one point and it was explained to me by someone who was in a position to know that it's because former presidents, politicians, diplomats, etc are often called upon to weigh in on situations that would require a current security clearance. At that level, I would imagine that would be a top secret and they are not that quickly handed out - takes time. So you would want the clearance they had in office to remain current.

Exactly. My late wife's resume was good when applying to primes after she retired, but that current security clearance was the cherry on top.

Same with mine, which just got renewed a year or two before I retired. So, if I was dumb enough to want to go to work for a contractor, that would make me that much more appealing. That, and 15 years as a COR/TOCOR on services contracts.

If Bill Clinton , Hillary Clinton and Hussein Obama had not been President and had just been regular citizens, neither of them could have ever been cleared for even a Classified document, much less a Secret or Top secret one.

Guessing you didn't retire as a COR, ours always get taken out of that position 5 years before they retire.

My understanding, Clinton would talk with Nixon for hours.

I didn't. That was by a different machination, however. Somewhere up line, someone had discovered that logistics contracts was what I did. Well, command staffing, personnel funding (O&M, mainly), and the like.

So, about a year (maybe less) before I retired, they placed me in charge of commodities. Think about that for a minute; 15 years as a logistician, who'd never worked logistics. I was level 3, so I'd had all the schooling, but had never worked the program.

Anyway, it was that close to retiring as a COR, simply because no one else had ever wanted to do it. They made it a 1.0 position, and you know how much the other competencies care about logistics. They care about getting their grubby dick-skinners on our budget, is what they care about.

Lol I've actually said " does this program have a loggie?" And someone said " I don't think we want them involved"

I've also heard the same thing when asking about security.

Did you know Dan Seifert (https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/150266364/daniel_robert-seifert)? Retired Marine O-5; an engineer; founder of NSI (Naval Systems, Inc.).

Even though he was an engineer, I was never in a meeting where he didn't bring up logistics - that whole "up front and early" thing.

It really wasn't my place to bring that up, I was just fed up with the program because it changed directions so much and I had to keep asking for money because they would have me spend it then change what I needed to buy after the money was already obligated and they would complain to me about it.
