Does anyone know if we have a Doula/Midwife program in Southern Md or near us...Calvert or Charles counties? I would really like to try and get that experience. I think bringing babies into the world would be a wonderful thing. Whata' ya' think?

Are you wanting to be a doula (non-medical support) or a nurse-midwife (requires degrees etc)? There is also a type of midwife who needs to gain certifications through apprenticeships and such, but I believe does not need a Bachelor's degree.

Also, here is a link that might help ya get started. I've always found this an interesting career, too. There are many different types of doulas (there is a birth doula and postpartum doula) and midwives, so you need to read up on them.

thank you so much! great site. I think a PostPartum doula would suit me best. I tend to sympathize with moms and babies at that time. thank you so much!
