The Board of County Commissioners is closely monitoring the track of Tropical Storm Hanna. Currently the National Weather Service is predicting that St. Marys County will receive 3-6 inches of rain with the potential for up to 10 inches in localized areas. Rainfall will begin this evening, with the heaviest rain expected from 6:00 AM to 4:00 pm on Saturday, September 6, 2008. Expect winds to be a sustained 20-30 MPH with gusts up to 50 MPH.
Expected tides will be between 1ft. to 3ft. above astronomical high tide. High tide at Point Lookout,
MD is expected to be Saturday at 6:05 AM and again at 7:23 PM. St. Marys County will be opening Leonardtown High School as an emergency shelter beginning at 8:00 PM, Friday, September 05, 2008. Pets can be brought to the shelter. Animal Control will be able to shelter them outside of the shelter. Please remember to bring food for your pets.
