Large Quake Reported Off Indonesia

Officials in Thailand were warning of a tsunami (search) risk Monday after a large earthquake was reported in the Andaman Sea (search).

The U.S. Geological Survey reported an 8.2 magnitude temblor in the sea 880 miles northwest of the Indonesian capital of Jakarta, off the coast of Indonesia's Sumatra (search) island.

A USGS official said the quake may be an aftershock from the deadly Dec. 26 earthquake that produces killer tsunami waves that hit as far away as Somalia on the east coast of the African continent.

The official said the quake was shallow and did not occur in deep waters, which may mean less of a deadly tsunami risk. No reports of damage were reported.

Why not, it's part of your national history, isn't it? It was associated with a major earthquake that hit Alaska.

ok i pretty much meant the atlantic part of canada because well N.A. has like three oceans (if you count the arctic)
