Tsunami Warnings for Japan.

HONIARA, Solomon Islands - A tsunami has reportedly hit a town in the country's west, police in the Solomon Islands say.

The police report followed a powerful, magnitude-7.6 earthquake that struck off the Solomons on Monday morning, prompting a tsunami warning for other South Pacific states and a lower-level alarm for Hawaii.

The U.S. Geological Survey said the earthquake struck about 6 miles beneath the sea floor about 217 miles northwest of the Solomon's capital of Honiara at 7:39 a.m.

Yup, the USGS reported the 8.0 quake and at least a couple of 7+ magnitude aftershocks. I hope that the loss of life was minimal.
