"Sikh organisations in the US have received dozens of complaints from community members saying they were told to remove their turbans at airports for security checks in the wake of a new rule that subjects air travellers wearing head covering to additional screening.

"The federal government has equated our most precious article of faith with terrorism," said Amardeep Singh, the executive director of the Sikh Coalition, an advocacy group for Sikhs.

"To send a message that the turban is dangerous sends the wrong message to society," Singh told the New York Times."

What a bunch of idiots, I have to take off my shoes and hat when I walk through, what the hell is the difference. If I worked security, I would eat about 10 pounds of X-lax, 5 pounds of broccoli and 6 pounds of asparagus every morning and unload a fury in their stupid turbans.

A Sikhs long hair and turban are an article of faith not a fashion statement and they take serious affront if forced to remove it, so there is a slight difference between that and your ballcap. At the same time we don't hear about Jewish men complaining of having to remove their yarmulke, so maybe the Sikh's should just get over it and comply.

Well, maybe if members of their religious faith weren't blowing up buildings, aircraft, ships and people they wouldn't be getting the extra attention. They need to get over it!

A little digging will show that Sikh terrorist groups have organized some pretty impressive assaults in the past and they are active in India even today.

You can hide a great deal in in a turban. Take them off.

well, the islamists could disguise themselves as sikhs, if they found out turbans weren't searched.....most americans probably can't distinguish the difference between indian and iraq/afghani.

They used to have all Sikhs working in the liquor store adjacent to Waysons Restaraunt when I worked there. Three guys with great big turbans behind the counter. A Sikh turban looks alot different from the ones you see in Afganistan and such. It's all their uncut hair wraped up in those.

outdated customs and religious observations have no place in this modern age. I'd make a nun lift her habit, an arab woman lift her veil, a fat person buy a second ticket, a jew take off the sombrero, and put a baby through an x-ray machine (for fun), serve a vegan a fkn slim jim. Slap them all and tell them to simply get over it.
Then arrange to show inflight movies that offend every major faith creed and nation on earth.
