Turkey Dinner

So, after hosting Thanksgiving dinner for about 14 years, my hubby has finally taken a stand on the Turkey. See, none of the family really wants the dark meat, so I have always cooked 2 turkey breasts. Well, this year he made it clear that Thanksgiving dinner without the whole turkey is like getting a Christmas gift wrapped in Birthday paper.

So we will be having a whole, real, honest to God, turkey this year! Along with the traditional sides.

Anyone doing anything different and unique????

I did see a new technique for the gravy. Roast a ton of veggies with the Turkey and then use and Emulsion Blender on them. The just pour the veggie mixture into your broth and it will add the thickness. No flour or cornstarch needed. I think I may be trying this.

I am so very blessed
I generally make two or three HUGE turkeys, one sister brings a smoked turkey, another sister brings a stuffed ham, and I make a regular baked ham. Plus we also have all of the associated side dishes and desserts.

We feed about 60 people, and we are a family who load up on platters of food to take home. 🐖 🐷 🐖 🐷

Hmmm. Time to dig out that child's sailor outfit and sneak in the back door.

I was thinking of a deep fried turkey, but it's just too much bird for myself. Priced 3 gallons of "deep fry" oil (used to be peanut, now just a mix of different oils), it was over $45.
