There was one episode of Twilight Zone where a radio enthusiast made contact with an alien life and had 2-way pictures. At one point the alien breaks thru the tv and terrorizes the Earth side of the connection.

I was maybe 8? I was in terror of our tv for a long time and wouldn't watch any sci-fi.

I think that is “The Galaxy Being” and it’s the first Outer Limits episode.
