I hate to break it you, but the crunch-thing is a myth. It doesn't matter what muscles you use, the fat goes from where-ever your body wants to take it. Any good trainer will tell you: "Everyone has a six pack, just some people have it covered up." You can have a flat, toned stomach and never do a crunch in your life.
Also, for anyone losing weight, I suggest at least some weight training. Aerobics are great, but you only burn the calories if you do them. Build muscle, and your metabolism increases- you're even burning more in your sleep. I apologize if you already know this, but some people either don't, or refuse to believe it. And yes, you can train with weights and still look feminine, not bulky. I will explain in more detail, if someone cares to hear it.
