U.S. Paying Iraqi Newspapers, Report Says
The U.S. military secretly paid Iraqi newspapers to plant favorable stories about its efforts to rebuild the country, the Los Angeles Times reported Wednesday.
Ok, that doesn't sound very good...
The newspaper quoted unidentified officials as saying many of the stories in Iraqi newspapers are written by U.S. troops and while basically factual, sometimes give readers a slanted view of what is happening in Iraq.
Really? Where can I get these articles? I'm getting sick of the slant that the LA Times gives :dork:

Enjoying life!
I just read this too. I wouldn't trust the LA Times with anything. Anyone see the irony in a biased newspaper reporting on biased reporting? Also notice how the article names no one specifically, just "official" sources.

This, as opposed to that famous Iraqi Information Minister, who just simply lied about everything, outright. "There are no Americans at the airport; there are no Americans -- anywhere. They are not here. They are on the moon!" and later "all the Americans at the airport are dead; all you will see there are dead bodies" of Americans who previously weren't there at all.

I'd have a problem with this if they were printing fabrications. But no one is saying that.

On the other hand, the New York Times...............

Oh horseshit. As soon as I see this:
unidentified officials
I stop reading.

I'm sure what they mean by "slanted" is that the newspapers aren't going on and on about dead soldiers and civilians killed by suicide bombers and Bush's "aloofness".

Any time something good comes out about the war - women voting, children going to school, whatever - they start losing their minds over at the DU and screaming, "Oh yeah??? What about the 2,000 dead soldiers? Huh?? What about THAT????" So if Iraqi newspapers are giving the good news, that's just fine with me.
