Most are caused by bacteria, alchohol, medication or smoking.

Not sure. My stomach ulcer was caused from taking Aleve too much for stress headaches. Ironically, the stress was making the acids flow more in my stomach...combine that with Aleve and I was doomed.
Watch what medications you take. Naprosyn (aka Aleve) in a pretty common one to cause probs for ya.
Good news- the ulcer did heal after a while off the meds. It HURT though when I had it.

Isn't caffeine another big culprit?
A few years ago they supposedly came out with this mind-boggling break-through about ulcers and some medication that fixes them easily...
It totally debunked all the past myths about them being hereditary etc...
Oh yeah, I was told to lay off the caffeine too when I had mine.
