unexplained blindness in dogs

happy to be living
Our Chih mix just went blind.

Blood tests and examination/tests~Vet cannot find a viable reason and has ruled out diabetes, thyroid, etc.
Heartbreaking to say the least. We are all adjusting to the amount of steps and stairs and obstacles in our home, store and yard. Our other rescue dog, Dexter, has been attentive and helping her along.

Sophie is now approx 8 to 10 years old and we adopted her through CAWL; even though they never even met her! I drove someone up to Howard Co Animal Shelter 3 years ago to pick her up after she was literally *on the table* for euthanisia. She has been with us ever since

Pet lovers: Any advice on dealing w/ a blind dog appreciated.

Methodically disorganized
SARDS seems like a relatively common problem. We think of being blind as disastrous, but dogs can adjust well, even in advanced years.

Good luck to you and the pup.

Everything the articles say about SARDS makes sense including the increased appetite, thirst and urination.
