Uniden B898T Scanner

I received a Uniden B898T Scanner for Christmas. The book is confusing since I do not understand the "lingo". It does have trunking. I took it to Radio Shack in Leonardtown. They only program their brand scanners. Searching around on the internet I found a place I can send it to have it programmed, but I would prefer to deal locally, if at all possible.

Please let me know of any businesses that do this or anyone who has a side business that may be able to help. Thank you!

It can't be all that hard to program....Once you get the "Freqs" just enter them in....Maybe you could take it to the Fire Department in town and there are usually a bunch of guys around and I am sure they'll know how to do it....Or do you know anyone in the Fire department that'll do it for ya...?
You will probably want the Sheriff's, State Police, Fire & Rescue....I probably have all of those if you want them....

Should be pretty straightforward with the manual to program it yourself.

You could probably also take it to your local neighborhood fire department, and ask one of the volunteers there to program it for you. Usually there's someone hanging around there in the evening, or other hours during the day. I'm sure if you give them a nice little tip, or even better, take them some homemade cookies or something...

Yes, using the new EDACS Trunked system that the county switched to in recent years, using these 10 frequencies:

866.1625
866.4375
866.7675
867.4750
867.6375
867.7750
867.9375
868.1500
868.7250
868.7875

Yes the only freq that you get on your scanner now are the old ones. Radio shack programmed mine when I bought it from them, but he told me if I screwed with it and had to bring it back there is a 25.00 fee to redo it. It really isn't easy. I asked our IT guys if they would do it and they told me not for all the $$$ in the world. Real pain to do it by hand. Radio shack hooks one scanner to another and transfers that way. All the new freqs are hard to program in, but I think somebody at the local fire dept may know somebody who can do it. You might call the Sheriff's office too but I think I tried them and couldn't get anybody to do it.

Dup, you are only getting the State Police and fire board. And you can only get the Sheriff's Dept if they call "St Marys" on one of the old freq

I don't know what kind you have, but I will look at it. it has to be a dual trunking, whatever that is. if it is, it'll say that on it, but I think you have an old one.
