An injured Army vet has finally been reunited with his combat dog after the military mistakenly gave the dog up for adoption to someone else.
Army Spc. Brent Grommet and his combat dog Matty were injured in an IED explosion in Afghanistan. When they returned home, Grommet filled out the papers to adopt Matty, but the dog was given to another family.
After hearing this heartbreaking story, which aired last week on “On The Record,” Rep. Richard Hudson (R-N.C.) decided to find the dog.
The family who adopted the dog has since returned Matty to Grommet.
