U.S. District Judge Peter J. Messitte sentenced Sonya Bannister Burford, age 53, of Malboro, Maryland to 18 months in federal prison, followed by three years of supervised release, for stealing $322,938 in Social Security benefits to which she was not entitled. Judge Messitte also ordered that Burford must forfeit and pay restitution in the full amount of the loss, which is $322,938.
