"The US Navy is sending three warships to the eastern Mediterranean Sea in a show of strength during a period of tensions with Syria and political uncertainty in Lebanon.

Adm. Michael Mullen, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, told reporters the deployment should not be viewed as threatening or in response to events in any single country in that volatile region."

yeah they sent the warships, but there are no Marines onboard the Nassau. The whole MEU got sent to Afghanistan.

This is a wasted effort. Its like a dog that barks behind a fence. As long as the gate isnt open it wont harm you.

Don't understate the importance of which ship was sent back into that region. It's the Cole, one more time in the face of the terrorists.

The locals are a bit sensitive about US warships in the area. For good reason.
