Didn't they used to arrest people, as opposed to shooting them?

A Provo man who posted threatening comments about President Joe Biden was shot and killed by FBI agents Wednesday, hours before the president was scheduled to visit Utah Wednesday. Agents were serving a search and arrest warrant at the residence.

According to a federal arrest warrant issued Tuesday, Craig Deeleuw Robertson, 75, had also made previous threats to FBI agents if they showed up at his house.

About 6:15 a.m. Wednesday, FBI agents went to Robertson’s home at 342 N. 1170 West to serve arrest and search warrants. During the service of those warrants, Robertson was shot and killed.

No other information about what led to the shooting has been released.

The FBI is so stupid they cannot figure out a way to arrest one 75 YO man without killing him.
Did the old man ever go to the store,? Did he never go outside to cut the grass, or to take a walk.
I would bet that99% of the time this old man was unarmed, yet they couldn't get him like that they had to make a SWAT raid at 6 AM.

It does give me pause before saying anything remotely threatening, even to a person I have utterly zero chance of ever harming, and clearly in context of - pretty much saying - I REALLY don't like the guy.

Evdiently you can openly and publicly declare how much you want to k*** a Republican - even a former Republican President - but don't you dare sit up, holed up in your home, an otherwise powerless 70ish old man described as old and overweight, who barely leaves his house - and the FBI will charge in and shoot him.

I was JUST TELLING my daughter yesterday who CCP will arrest/attack/kill anyone who even MENTIONS Tiananmen Square online or in public or in media - at least in reference to the massacre in 1989 - because somehow the Chinese government thinks it can erase the event from history. She doesn't quite get it and thinks she'd be liable to say it in THIS country.

So - back to basics - you can stand outside the White House and declare what you'd do to the President when it was Trump - you can write a PLAY about assassinating him - you can go on TV and pretend to decapitate him - you can openly attack other members of the Republican party AND you can threaten them on the House and Senate FLOOR - you can run for President and say how you intend to take him behind the gym and beat the crap out of him -----

But if he's a Democrat - you need to be sure you don't even mutter it in your sleep - because then you won't be arrested, you'll be executed.

I've been to his Twitter page - it seems he made threats to the FBI, to the local DA, to Biden and pretty much any Democratic person he didn't like.

They were all online - he took no steps to act out his remarks any more than your typical bellicose person on SOMD does when they threaten another poster with harm. As near as I can find, he had no priors, no arrest record save a disorderly conduct charge 25 years ago. Descriptions from neighbors said he was known to be in "frail health" and walked about with a cane/walking stick he appeared to have made, himself.

Another source I found said the FBI had been stalking him in public, while going to church and so on - hence his comment online about if they're still monitoring him.

What I am finding difficult to find - is an account of the actual shooting. I have little doubt that when the feds came to his door, he probably held up a gun - he had a lot of them (which, as one article said - was kind of typical for MOST people in that area). But I'm not seeing anything yet in print.

There was a time when I'd have said let's wait for more information before we jump to conclusions, but the FBI has shown itself to be a lawless pack of murderous thugs. I have no problem picturing them opening fire on someone just for kicks. They are now guilty until they prove themselves innocent, and even then I'd doubt it.

Curious where our Republican "leadership" is and what's the point of ever voting for another one.

Did the guy who crossed the country to shoot up a softball game make the same type of threats about republicans and the FBI only noticed him after he shot people .?

Waco certainly proved that, regarding Koresh and the ATF. FBI proved that with the arrest of Roger Stone. It's about the optics. Koresh - they could have arrested him quietly while he was in the town of Waco - they chose a spectacluar invasion which tragically ended with the horrible deaths of many. Stone - they could have knocked on the door in broad daylight - it's not as though he was going to fight them - but they chose to make a show of it, with a camera crew THEY INVITED.

This isn't hyperbole or some right wing guy exaggerating - this is plain fact. These two men could have been taken quietly.

I have little doubt that the Feds are of the "Ready, Fire, Aim" type.

SOME. He had a history of - let's just say he had a troubled past. Not enough to get on the FBI's radar. James Thomas Hodgkinson was a disgruntled anti-Trump left winger, but nothing significantly different from EVERYTHING ELSE ON THE LEFT at that point. Usual stuff - Trump's a traitor, Not My President.

It would appear the FBI did MOST of their background work ----

AFTER THE SHOOTING. They were unconcerned about preventing an attack - just wanted to find a motive.

It IS a little odd that most people have forgotten his name, and yet he DID ACTUALLY SHOOT Congressman.

Utah Man Shot Dead By FBI Agents Was ‘Kind Person’ Who Posed No Real Threat, Neighbor Says​



The 75-year-old Utah man who was shot dead by FBI agents on Wednesday morning for making online threats against President Joe Biden and other government officials was a pillar of his local church community and posed no real threat to anyone, a former neighbor and friend told The Daily Wire.

Tim Rich first heard of the incident through a neighborhood Facebook group, where households posted about hearing gunshots, and later that a SWAT team had raided the home of his friend, Craig Robertson. Rich immediately “had an inkling of what the nature” of the raid was — he was Facebook friends with Robertson and saw his political posts, which included one last week in which Robertson said he had to “dust off” his sniper rifle in preparation for Biden’s arrival in Utah for a political fundraiser.

Rich said he mostly ignored Robertson’s political rants. “I just dismissed it — he’s ranting again, voicing his frustrations,” Rich said. “I don’t even know how many friends he had on Facebook; I would imagine not many and that his posts weren’t going to many people.”

Robertson’s post about shooting Biden referenced his M24 sniper rifle. Other subjects of his Facebook threats included Vice President Kamala Harris and Attorney General Merrick Garland. A post from September 2022 read “Death to Joe Biden.”
