Ya know how here in MD they have that number that will give you a list of state licensed in home daycare providers and centers, does anyone know if VA has something like this?

I know Fairfax County has their own office: Fairfax County Office For Children. You might check other VA county offices as well.

Sorry this reply is late, I just noticed it....

In Virginia, people are not required to be licensed to watch kids in their home unless they have 5 or more children besides their own. So there are lots of small-time operations (perfectly legal in Va) that won't show up on any referral service.
