Vaccine Inequality

Thunberg tweeted, “Inequality and climate injustice is already the heart of the climate crisis. If people can’t be vaccinated and travel to be represented equally that’s undemocratic and would worsen the problem.”

She added, “Vaccine nationalism won’t solve the pandemic. Global problems need global solutions.”

She also tweeted that a “digital solution” is “far from optimal,” making the point that internet and computer access is not equal in the world, either. “In that case we would lack representation from those whose voices need to be heard the most when it comes to the climate crisis,” she tweeted.

At the end of last month, BBC reported that U.K. government officials said that there are no efforts to delay the climate change summit despite rumors to the contrary. However, a final decision will be made soon.

Greta Thunberg Lectures About The ‘Crisis’ Of So-Called ‘Vaccine Nationalism’

According to Thunberg, the COVID vaccine distribution disparities have to do with various nations’ incomes.

“Just like the climate crisis, those who are the most vulnerable need to be prioritized. And global problems require global solutions,” the climate change activist said during an online conversation with World Health Organization Director-General, Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus on Monday.
She hit back at higher-income nations, like the United States, for moving to vaccinate young and healthy people before shipping vaccines to lower-income countries that are struggling.

“It is completely unethical that high-income countries are now vaccinating young and healthy people if that happens at the expense of people in risk groups and on the front lines in low and middle-income countries. And this is a moral test,” Thunberg explained. “We talked today about showing solidarity and yet vaccine nationalism is what’s running the vaccine distribution.”

If more minorities had the vaccine than the rest of the population, people would be screaming that the vaccine is harmful and that is why they are giving it to POCs in disproportion.

You can't win with these people. They adjust the rules in the middle of the game.

Greta standing up for the low income countries? Does she include the African continent countries that still practice slavery as being more deserving of the vaccine than our people in the US?

Greta Thunberg Is Not Entirely Wrong on Global COVID-19 Vaccine Distribution

Thunberg is commenting on middle- and low-income countries left behind. However, there are first-world nations whose distribution for the most vulnerable has been significantly hampered. Our neighbor to the north, Canada, is under draconian lockdowns with increasing law enforcement powers due to a lack of vaccines. The Toronto Sun’s Brian Lilley appeared on Glenn Beck’s radio program on Monday to describe the government overreach. When Beck asked him what would help, Lilley said vaccines. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau failed to secure an adequate supply, and Canadians are suffering.

Maybe Thunberg has a point, even if you don’t like her tone. The State Department has updated its travel advisories to align with the CDC, and it now assigns a Level 4: Do Not Travel advisory to about 80% of countries worldwide. Some populations in those countries are at high risk for COVID-19. Dr. Fauci said on Face the Nation that the U.S. needs to be part of the global response. He also talked about beginning to vaccinate elementary school children in the first quarter of 2022. Maybe he should worry more about the former and back off the latter with a vaccine still under investigation by the FDA.
