Vac's and Fever

watercolor

yeah yeah
So skeeter had her 6 mth vac's yesterday and they are bothering her bad. She really didn't have any trouble with the other's that she got- but these ones are taking a toll on her. She got her prevnar, DTAP/DT/TD, Hib, Polio and Hep B yesterday- so it was a good amount of stuff going into her body. She doesnt have to have another set until sept (thank god).

According to the Dr. I am not to "worry" persay until her fever has spiked over 101. She has been sitting at 100.00 pretty much all day, and she is just lethargic. I can tell she is miserable. The site of the shots on her left leg is red and hard and she winces if you touch it. She has been in and out of sleep all day. Her eyes just look like she doesnt feel good. She looks at me to help her and I dont know what to do.

I have been doing an ice pack on that like they said- and giving tylenol for the fever- but is there anything else I can do to help her feel better? I am looking for mommy/daddy advice- that has worked.. instead of something some website is telling me.

But wait, there's more...
If it's okay with the doc, try alternating the tylenol with motrin. I always found it to bring fever down and relieve pain in DQ far better than the tylenol. :yay:

Hrm.. ok. Well, I will give them a call. She has never had motrin- is it going to make her drowsy? Just curious.

I wouldn't say it'd make her any more drowsy than the effects of the vaccines and other medicine you've given her. If she's tired, though, she might have an easier time getting to sleep.

:yeahthat: MiniMe had an allergic reaction to amoxocillin once, and his fever was super high. The doc told me to alternate the tylenol and motrin (although since his fever was so high I wanna say she said to do it every two hours, but I wouldn't do that without consulting her doc), and it brought it down.
