They prescribed it to my son for a cold sore (which was triggered by his accutane usage). Cold sore was gone in three days. The prescription was pretty expensive and the medicine made him exhausted (fatigue is a major side effect).
In short, it was very effective for him.

I used to work in doctor's offices and the people who needed Valtrex never went without it. It's supposed to work real well!

here is a link to info. on herpes simplex 1/cold sores , I researched this at one point in time after I accidently drank a beer after someone with a breakout needless to say I was freaking out and looked up all the info. I could find.
