Varicose Veins

Anyone have any experience or recommendations on having varicose veins treated?

I have a spider vein on my thigh that I want to disappear. Went to a vein clinic in Prince Fredrick and after a sonogram, they determined they wanted to kill a vein in my leg. I just want it zapped; by laser or by shots, without surgery.

TIA!

I believe that is normally how it is done. There is a surgeon in leonardtown that does both procedures, unfortunately I don't remember his name. I've never heard of surgery being performed. That would just leave a scar in place of the vein and doesn't make sense to me.

I had surgery done on a vein several years ago by Dr. John Harvey. I had the procedure done at St. Mary's Hospital. I have also had the EVLT which is the laser done for deep veins which are faulty but not visible. I have also had sclerotherapy done for spider veins and some smaller varicose veins. I am actually going to go have the sclero done again soon. I have been going to the Chesapeake Vein Clinic in Prince Frederick.

Spider veins are completely different from varicose.

I have both and will pay for a face lift before I pay to get rid of them.

There is laser surgery now and less invasive.

Google it.

I had a bunch of spider veins zapped at the place in Prince Frederick just south of the Fox Run Shopping center (behind Taco Bell). It took a long time for them to fade, but I'm pretty happy with the results. Initially they just changed from blue to brown but they faded over time. I think I was supposed to go back in for a follow up so maybe that would have "broken them up" faster, but I ran out of money.

Highly recommend this vein center

I went to have my legs treated at Southern Maryland Vascular Institute in White Plains. The staff was excellent, they spent a lot of time explaining to me what the problem was, and what can be done about it.

I am a man (apparently its unusual to get varicose veins in men compared to women) and I had painful swollen legs with large ropey varicose veins running down the thighs and calfs. After the minimally invasive procedure (they called it the VNUS Closure procedure), the veins nearly totally went away and my legs felt like I lost 10 pounds on each leg -great feeling!

Highly recommend the place, SMVI in White Plains.
