Buy the book...Chesapeake Bay Cooking with John Shields. It has a recipe for crab soup from Nick's Inner Harour Seafood stall at the Cross Street Market in Baltimore. Best recipe I have used. Calls for barley and a ham hock. Gives the soup a wonder flavor.
