...anyone have one or ever used one?
Verizon Wireless EVDO
USB 720 modem
Works great, Have had it about 12 months,
No Problems.
About $60 per mo.
I see that their plans are either $39.99 for 50 MB or $59.99 for 5 GB.
I'm going to assume that I'll need the 5 GB version.
I'm just sick and tired of crappy NetZero. Way too many years with them. Can't get DSL and the satellite is way too expensive.
This will definitely pay off when I make the pilgrimage to Australia. I wonder if it works out there.

I just got some software and a usb cable from the local Verizon store tonight. They said I could "teather" and use my phone as a modem. That's kinda neat.
I'm trying it out now. If I don't like it I can return it within 30 days.
I will be out of luck in Aussie though, its only nationwide.
As far as I know, I'm on the $59.99 plan.Becareful. I don't know if data minutes and regular airtime minutes are the same. Do they still have data packages?

Never heard of that. Interesting.FInd a McDonalds or Burger King they all have hotspots overseas, and all you'll need is a wireless card

The data package is separate from the phone, so when he is doing a data transfer (using it as a modem, web surfing from the phone, checking e-mails from the phone) it is charged against the data plan, not the voice plan.
So if person doesn't have a data plan can you still transfer data or is it disabled?
Never heard of that. Interesting.
