NNOOOO RRRUNNN!!! They are HORRIBLE!!! There is one in Annapolis! PLEASE go there!

I love, love, love Dogs & Cats in Bowie. Biscuit's cardiologist is there. When he had his cancer surgery, we chose them over Annapolis (but Annaplolis is very good) and the surgeon is fantastic as are the oncologists.

They started offering emergency services a few years ago.

Does anyone know of a vet that would let my friend make payments, he has about 1500.00 but thats it and really doesn't want to make the other choice..

Not sure about any other vet, but Solomon's vet let me make payments. That was many years ago, not sure if any vet does it now. Most vets have forms you can fill out to get a "credit card" for vet costs.

Most vets don't allow payments but there is a Care Credit Card. Interest rate is high but it is an alternative.

Some rescues will help as well. Tell him to call Dogs & Cats. 301-809-8800.

Ahh...tell him to call Dogs & Cats. You know, maybe the dog won't need surgery  Might pay to get a second opinion from a decent place.

St.Mary's Animal Hospital offers some type of payment option. They did Precious's ACL surgery and are very reasonable price and I was pleased with everyone there.

Maybe that is what St. Mary's offers. I was so upset when I took Precious in for her exam I just remember them saying something about payment options :blahblah: I just wanted my dog fixed :lmao:

St. Mary's Animal Hospital will let you write a check and they will hold it for up to 30 days. They also offer care credit? not sure how that works. They are great! Dr. Forrest did a surgery a couple months ago for my foster (kidney stones) for just under $1,200.

They are expensive. They wanted like 1300 for my dog's ACL surgery. I've heard they are very good though. St. Marys was like 4-500.

They were recommended by our vet. I don't believe they are anymore expensive than the next, although I think it does depend on what you need to have done. I wouldn't go anywhere else for that kind of care.

We paid $2500 for our dogs ACL repair in Annapolis. But they did it in a way it won't tear again. They said the cheaper way does not guarentee that.

I'm late in this thread but have to agree with the others that have said DO NOT go to Waldorf Emergency Vet. Unless there is no other option. I have had wonderful results, from several trips, over the years with Annapolis. I have also heard great things about the Bowie emergency office but haven't been there. Luckily, (knock on wood) I haven't had an emergency since the Huntingtown office opened, I don't know anything about them yet.

As far as expense, all the emergency vet's are going to be more because they typically offer 24/7 hours and care. They have on-call specialists and are staffed all hours of the day and night. I don't know about St. Mary's Vet but I know Three Notch only has one person come in for a check once at night and they do not stay all night.

I hope the pup made out alright! :howdy:
