Vet Tech

A friend from New York is considering moving to Maryland. They are a Non-Certified Vet Tech, 2 years experience and working toward certification while also attending Vet School.
Any idea of what salary/wages they might draw ?

Hi there. Most vet clinics and hospitals in Maryland will pay veterinary technicians based on experience and education. The range can be anywhere from $10-$20 per hour or around $30,000 per year for some of the highest paid techs. Working for a speciality or emergency hospital will pay you more than a general clinic. The work will be a lot busier too. You said your friend was already attending veterinary school? He/she may want to apply to be an intern, where they will work more hours, and gain more clinical experience because they'll work with the doctors, however, the pay is usually the same as techs or less. In Maryland, veterinary technicians do not have to be licensed to work. In Virginia, they do. Hope this helps.
