Why do we get the day off, but military personnel still have to work?

🤔
There are no days off for those in the military, you serve 24/7/365 whether on duty or not and are subject to immediate recall. They serve so that those that don't may enjoy these benefits.

Saw that on the news a few minutes ago. They missed discovering it sooner because of a one-digit translation error from Japanese.

It's a little on the veteranish side. My dad started out in subs - always fascinated me. I remember very clearly when the Thresher went down and going to church on the base and the tears when they played Eternal Father.

Older than I thought you were if you remember that..

You were a lot closer to where it actually went down then. I loved Rhode Island. Do you remember the Portuguese bread there? We lived off base and we'd leave church (which was also Portuguese) and pick up a loaf or two on the way home. My God that stuff was good.
Nope, Mom made our bread.

Wait..what?...you went to work today??
In retail, this, or any other Holiday is just another excuse to have a "Sale" with "Great Deals," not to honor the actual Meaning.
I'll be at Lowe's this evening, running a cash register just like usual.

Went past Golden Coral about 5:30. Parking lot was filled to capacity and overflowing. Turns out they were offering a free meal to anyone who has served or is serving.

God bless the USA
Thank you to all that have served, and lived and died; including people in my fam, and people I have known during my life. If it wasn’t for all of our brave military, our beloved Country would have not survived. There are not enough words to say thank you. :patriot:
