OK, I think that Windows Movie Maker will work....Except for 1 thing....It will not recognize my camera....I have it plugged in the USB port and into the camera....When I try to capture video it tells me that it can't find my camera...It IS on too...I think I'm going to need my Pixela loaded for my camcorder but It won't load because of Vista....:banghead::whack:

Why don't you check out Sony's website for a driver, or run some Google searches using the model number of the camera to see how others have overcame the device recognition error...

For example search: "Sony XXXXX Vista driver error Windows Movie Maker"

The great thing about computers is that you are rarely ever the first problem to find a problem and identify a fix for it...

:yeahthat:

If Windoze does not see it, neither will the app...

You might want to search for a patch for Pixela to be compatible with Vista...

Mine does the same thing on my Vista comp, works just fine on my friends XP laptop though.

In My Opinion
I use Adobe Premiere Pro CS3. my camera that I use is a Sony HVR-V1U HDV Camcorder. I get incredible quality with this.
I will say that there is better software out there for the Hi-Def, but not in my budget.

only downside is that you have to feed through a firewire connection. If you current video capture card does not have this, you will need to upgrade.

but working time lines and editing the picture are very good in this software and produce a reasonable product for playing on a DVD player on most Hi Def TVs..

I cant remember right off what I paid for it but I dont remember it being cheap,

Gotta love Vista.....:banghead:

I propose buying a copy of Windows XP to put on that there computer before they quit selling it! I wiped Vista off my new computer and put XP on without any major problems. Runs great now.

Vista isn't going away and it will improve over time as the device makers get their act together...

One thing Microsoft is getting a bad rap on is the device makers are even more guilty than they are, and the public doesn't realize it. What they do is not write hardware drivers for Microsoft's new operating systems, which forces you to buy the new version of their products...

Vista has been in the works for years. Do you think Sony didn't have time to get a driver ready for that product? They didn't care...

I've seen video cards that originally cost $1,200 become worthless because the companies refuse to write drivers...

Well that sux....I e-mailed Sony and asked them if they have a patch or even new software so I can use this camcorder....We'll see what happens....But, I probably already know...

Have you tried using a FireWire cable? It's really fast. I have a Sony mini dv camera, and Vista recognized it with no problems. I also used Windows Movie Maker and everything worked great. It can save the movies as .avi or .wmv, which I was also able to put on my new Zune to show videos of my kids to family and friends on Christmas.

Anyone here use Pinnacle to convert from analog tapes to VDs? I'm looking for some pointers without going through the tech support calls.
