ANNAPOLIS, MD—Governor Larry Hogan today joined Prince George’s County Executive Angela Alsobrooks to mark the advancement of a transformational project to create more jobs and economic development along the Blue Line Corridor. On Tuesday, the governor enacted bipartisan legislation that commits up to $400 million in bond authority for the project, which will make the area a major hub for business, education, and the arts.

“Yesterday in Annapolis, I was proud to enact into law a major investment to advance the Blue Line Corridor project, which will be an absolute game-changer, bringing more jobs and more economic development to the neighborhoods where I grew up and spent much of my life,” said Governor Hogan. “The entire mission of my administration for eight years now has been to change Maryland for the better by investing in and revitalizing the areas of our state that had been neglected and forgotten for far too long, so that we can leave our state in better shape for future generations.”

After today’s event, the governor presented the county executive with a commemorative copy of the Blue Line Corridor bill (HB897) and the pen he used to sign it into law.

Last week, the governor was in Largo at the University of Maryland Capital Region Medical Center to break ground on the first-ever cancer care center in Prince George’s County. It is part of a new Maryland Cancer Moonshot Initiative to expand and accelerate cancer detection, screening, prevention, treatment, and research in the state. The state also continues to make progress on bringing the FBI’s new headquarters to the county.

The bonding authority for the Blue Line Corridor is expressly prohibited from being used for professional stadiums.
