Trump is losing.
Trump was universally denounced as an embarrassment to the US after the first debate.
Trump showed, again, that he can't debate...that he has no grasp of facts...that the only arrows in his quiver are bullying and personal attacks. He can't answer questions, he can't put forth an agenda, he can't defend his Administration's actions or his comments.
He got his out so he will, in his typical childish fashion, take his marbles and go play be himself.
For Trump to win: two things need to happen:
1. Expand his base of voters. Trump has made zero effort to do that since he came down the escalator. He will thrive or survive with a minority of the vote.
Which leaves him with...
2. He has to find some way to get voters to stay home in the swing states. So far that is failing. Hillary Clinton did not have an energized electorate and the Comey thing convinced enough of them to stay home which led to Trump's razor thin wins in 5 states. Biden doesn't have a very energized electorate either. What does is exist is a very energized anti-Trump electorate.
The polls in those "toss up" states are moving against Trump. Not one or two of them...the majority of the polls in all those states are moving against him. It is now a trend. In most elections, the race is tightening about now. Not this one.
So Trump will go do a rally...while possibly still infectious...he will spew false information and the COVID disease...thereby proving once again what little regard his has for anyone else. The braindead cult will eat it up....they will cheer and wave their little red hats in the air...just like good little cultists should.
I find the presumption that everyone has unlimited high speed internet elitist and condescending, and the Democrats have been particularly egregious in this regard.
Democrat voters are too isolated to have a photo ID, too ignorant to properly cast a mail-in vote, poverty stricken and living in ghettos with no grocery store....but they have a boss ass internet connection to watch the debates online? Okay.
This is just their way of getting Joe out of another debate.

How is it getting Joe out of the debate when Trump is the one who says he won’t do it?
Think about it for a second. The commission wants to help ole Joe out so they change the rules to something they know Trump would never agree to (the virtual event). Trump refuses and Joe is saved. It is just that simple, it really is.
