Virus???

Okay I am totally stumped on my office computer. Basically, when I receive an email to one my work email accounts and open it to read it Outlook 2003 sends out a blank email to that person. There are no attachments to the messages.

I have run 3 different anti-virus software programs, spybot and adaware and I am not finding anything wrong. Any ideas on where to go next?

I think you have a Trojan horse or virus. (When was the last time you updated your OS and your virus and spyware programs and definitions? (rhetorical)) If it wasn't today, they are too old.

The virus definitions are updated as of 8 AM today and I do not use any automated response messages. No out of office, or thanks for your email we will respond in xxx days. If it is a trojan nothing and I mean nothing is picking it up.

One question - it only seems to happen with emails sent from our website which is hosted on a linux server. Could the problem be there?

Linux and UNIX drive most of the servers world wide much to the chagrin of Bill Gates, so unless others are having the same problem, I doubt it.

Well the IT staff decided to wipe my hard drive and reinstall everything so we will see what happens.

If it is a boot sector virus, that won't work unless they rewrite the boot sector. Boot sector viruses are harder to detect too.
